About The Bead Shop

The Pearl Shop was first established in 1993 and was invented by Harvey Kesh and his wife, Fay. Harvey and Fay left a successful hairdressing company and several salons in the Northwest to develop a design and manufacturing company to produce luxury gifts for large department stores and boutiques. Business was so successful that Harvey and Fay won many business awards around the world and even met the Queen. Fay was diagnosed with cancer in 1990, and the pressure to run a large business became too great. The couple needed another adventure: something interesting, creative and closer to home. Fay racked his brains to find a way to wake up one morning and tell her family that she had been dreaming of beads; the concept of a pearl shop was born out of that dream. Fay died in 1995, leaving Harvey with a small business and four children to look after. However, 20 years of business is still booming. On a successful Manchester store and website, Harvey is now semi-retired (teaching yoga in Manchester and its surrounding areas), handing over business responsibility to his eldest son Matthew.
